ICAR-IIHR participated in the Kisan Mela exhibition organised by by Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, during 03 to 05 Dec 2017 at their campus in Samastipur, Bihar. Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh inaugurated the Kisan Mela-cum-Krishi Shiksha Diwas at Rajendra Prasad Central Agriculture University, Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar in the august presence of Deputy Director General (Extn.) Dr. A.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor of DrRPCAU Dr. R. C. Srivastava and several other distinguished guests. During the three-day Kisan Mela on the theme “Integrated Farming System Approach for Mitigating Climate Change Impact”, stalls were put up by different organisations to give information to the farmers about new techniques and researches made in the field of farming. Selected technologies of ICAR-IIHR were also displayed during the exhibition. Fresh samples of fruit and vegetable varieties, planting materials, published extension literature, kitchen garden kits, and dehydrated fruit and vegetable products were displayed in during the exhibition. The distinguished dignitaries visited the Stall and discussed about the scope of different horticulture technologies in the region with special emphasis on the doubling the income of the farmers. Hundreds of farmers, officials and other stakeholders also visited the Stall and showed keen interest in fruit and vegetable dehydration technologies, ivy gourd variety Arka Neelachal Kunkhi, and scope of pineapple cultivation in the region. The participation of ICAR-IIHR in the exhibition was coordinated by Dr. P. Srinivas, Principal Scientist, CHES (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar and his team comprising of Mr M. Pattanaik, Technical Assistant and Sri B. Paikaray, SSS.
